Fish are an important part of every water garden. Not only do they eat the excess plant material, algae and pests, but they add personality with colour and movement. Here are some tips on feeding your pond fish.
Do fish need to be fed in a balanced pond? Not regularly. Since their natural survival instinct will be to search out mosquito larvae, aphids and other insects, food should only be used as a reward – not a continual diet. When you first get your fish, we recommend getting a pound of food, preferably of the floating koi variety. For the first few weeks, the repetition of feeding them a small amount at the same time each day will be a great introduction to you and their new home.
